Cambodia is expected to generate annual revenues upwards of US$2 billion from fuel and gas export as early as 2009. The situation in Cambodia in the next 10 years will be:
Cambodia who relies on foreign aid for about 60% of its working budget, will sell all oil to China, shut down oppositions, and cut off the relationship with the West like Burma. Vietnam will be very prosperous and through Sokimex will control the oil money and eventually take over Cambodia. Hun Sen as promised uses the money from oil to build infrastructure, including hospitals and schools; and lift millions of Cambodians out of poverty. CPP’s leaders, Sokimex and Tela Petroleum will pocket most of the money and leave Cambodia in the same situation. Sam Rainsy and other democrats form an Alliance of Democrats and win the 2008 election and use the oil money to rebuild the country into a regional superpower. Cambodia's situation will be the same as that of oil-rich Nigeria, where corrupt politicians used oil money to fund a civil war. Other scenarios.
